In this week’s webinar, “How to Market Your Small Business or Non-Profit Online,” The URL Dr. answered questions about core marketing concepts. Here’s an excerpt from our Q&A session:
“How do I know the best time to post on social media?”
“What you can do is an abbreviated version of what we told you about in this webinar and what we talk about in our email webinars about the best time to send your emails. You can do the same sort of test with social media. Watch your social media. What posts get the most interaction on different times of the day, different days of the week, different subject matter?”
“It is probably easiest to keep it in a spreadsheet so you can know you posted this topic at this time on Wednesday, and I posted this topic at this time on Thursday. Track it for a couple of weeks and you’ll start to see patterns. You want to continue with patterns that seem to be working, when the posts get the most likes and the most shares and the most comments. Those topics, those times of the day, those days of the week are the ones that you want to repeat. And you may need to mix it up. Maybe your particular audience, maybe evenings are better, maybe lunchtime is better, maybe weekends. You want to spread it around so you can get an idea of what works. Don’t take just one post at one time. Do it a couple of times so you can actually see what the pattern is and repeat what seems to be working.”
